Weekend 30 2010

We enjoyed a longer weekend this weekend!  Our weekend started Thursday afternoon.  I picked Jason up from his last day of summer school, and we headed to Walmart to pick him up a surprise.  He picked out a viewfinder with Toy Story slides.  The toy brought me back to my own childhood.  I’m so glad they still make these things.  I used to really enjoy looking at mine.  After Walmart, we went to pick Maddie up from school.  Jason and Maddie were being so sweet to each other the whole way home.  As soon as we got home though, it was another story.  They seemed to be in constant competition with each other.  What happened to the sweet kiddos!?  Shortly after we got home, Mammaw, Pappaw and Aunt Heather arrived at our house.  Jason and Maddie proceeded to show off and entertain them (more so Jason than Maddie).  Not long after they arrived, Justin showed up and we all went to Central Texas BBQ for dinner.  After we ate, we spent time visiting at home and then Jason went to sleep in record time when I put him down.  Seriously, I don’t think it’s ever been so fast.

Friday, we spent the morning hanging out at the house while Mammaw, Pappaw and Heather went shopping.  Jason and I played and got ready to meet Aunt Judy and Uncle Bruce for lunch while Daddy took care of some work he needed to finish up.  We met for lunch at Perry’s, and we had a delicious lunch and very nice visit.  After lunch, everyone went to meet the newest member of our family, and we passed to take Jason home for nap time.  We figured we’d save Melanie the horror of a toddler without a nap for right now.  ;)

After his nap, Daddy and Jason rocked out to Guitar Hero.  Jason is very good at keeping the rhythm, but he hasn’t quite mastered the keys and strokes just yet.

After they played, we took Jason to Chuck E. Cheese’s for dinner and playing.  He had a really good time, and we managed to get some good game time in before it got too crowded.  Jason is very good at video games.  A trait he undoubtedly gets from his daddy!

Saturday morning, Jason and I fixed pancakes for breakfast for everyone.  After we ate, Mammaw, Pappaw and Aunt Heather hit the road for their drive back to Nashville.  It was a super quick trip, but we were happy we got to see them.  We snapped this super cute photo of Jason and Aunt Heather before they left.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out at the house and taking it easy.  We went to Los Cucos for dinner, and Jason won himself a monkey in the stuffed animal crane machine.  Jonathan was shocked because Jason did it all on his own!  After he won, he asked Jonathan for more money because he said, “I have to win one for Maddie now.”  Such a sweet little boy.  We went to Kroger on the way home, and Jason wanted to buy Maddie some shampoo because he didn’t win anything for her.  We were cracking up!

Sunday morning we took it easy and ate breakfast at home before heading to Lowe’s and Walmart.  Jason conked out on the way home, and took a nice long nap.  We even joined him for the last two hours of the nap, and it was awesome.  I love those Sunday afternoon naps with him.  We woke up feeling nice and refreshed.  Spent time playing and hanging out, and then I fixed dinner.  Jason kept talking about having a party, so we decided we’d finish out the weekend with a cupcake to celebrate how awesome he is!

He enjoyed it very much!  After his cupcake it was time to get ready for bed.  As I was putting him down last night, he told me, “You’re my best friend.”  It’s things like that that make him the most awesome kid ever!  We wouldn’t trade him for anything.

Weekend 29 2010

Friday Jonathan picked Jason up and we went to dinner at Chick-fil-a.  After we ate, we went to Hobby Lobby.  We got home and chilled for a bit before putting Jason to bed.

Saturday, Jason and I got up and did a little cleaning – well, I cleaned and Jason ate his breakfast and watched cartoons.  When Daddy woke up, we did more cleaning.  It was pretty much a day filled with cleaning and household chores.  We went to Target after lunch and let Jason pick out a new bed set.  He chose the Cars set over Toy Story.  He seems to be favoring Cars over everything right now.  His favorite scene of the movie is when Mater and Lightning are in the field doing some tractor tipping.  His eyes will get wide and focused when the bull tractor wakes and chases them off.  He will ask to watch that scene over and over again, and he’ll ask Daddy to hold him tight while he does.  It’s so cute.  After Target, we drove around for a bit and Jason fell asleep in the car.  After his nap, we went to Los Tios for dinner.  After eating, we went to Lowe’s to buy some new shelves for Jason’s playroom.  We got home right at bedtime, so we didn’t do too much else.

Sunday Daddy and Jason were up bright and early.  When I got up, we got to work on our list of to dos for the day.  We converted Jason’s bed to a toddler bed and got it all decked out in his new Car set.  He showed very little interest in it, but we’ll just give it some time.

And last night at bedtime…just long enough for a photo.

Next we moved on to the gameroom to convert it from Mommy and Daddy’s old room of tv and movie watching and video game playing to a room toddler friendly and decked out with all of Jason’s toys.  We cleared out most of our stuff and moved most of Jason’s stuff in.  We took a short break, and Jason fell asleep on our trip to Sonic after lunch.  Jason and Daddy napped and I continued working in the playroom.  I put together his new shelves and managed to get almost everything finished before they woke up.  We still need to get some things to hang on the walls, but for the most part, this room is now ready for Jason to take it over.  It seems a little strange to not have our downstairs living room over run with all his toys.  We picked up dinner and spent the rest of the evening taking it easy.

Jason was not at all interested in falling asleep at bedtime.  He was very talkative and giggly.  He finally calmed down a bit and then he heard Avery barking downstairs.  The following conversation took place:

Jason:  “Avery’s a good dog.”
Mommy:  “Yes, she sure is, and you’re a good little boy.”
Jason:  “And you’re a good mommy, and Daddy is a good daddy.”

Such a sweet little boy.  After it was determined that he was most likely not going to fall asleep anytime soon, I decided I’d just go to bed too.  I went downstairs to tell Jonathan good night, and then I did a few things before getting back in bed.  I grabbed the remote and crawled into bed.  Jason was super excited and giggly.  He laid his head on the pillow and pulled the covers up high and said, “I can’t wait, Mommy!  I want to watch Wow Wow Wubzy.”  I explained he needed to go to sleep and we weren’t going to watch his show.  I held him for a while before he finally fell asleep.  It was the perfect ending to our weekend.

Weekend 28 2010

We had a busy and fun filled weekend this weekend!

Friday night, we went to our favorite Chinese place for dinner.  After eating, we went home and took it easy till Jason went to bed.

Saturday Jason and I played outside for quite a while after he ate breakfast.  It was actually quite pleasant out and not too hot.  Jason has been obsessed with playing with the water hose lately.  He just can’t seem to get enough of it.  He loves to drink from the hose.

This next shot was taken right before he sprayed me with the hose.  I was soaked, but luckily he didn’t get the camera.

And here’s the little stinker coming to apologize and laugh at Mommy all wet.

When Jonathan woke up, we decided to take Jason to Incredible Pizza for the afternoon.  We got all ready and loaded up, and wouldn’t you know it, Jason conked out in the car!  We grabbed lunch in the car for us, and then we headed home.  Of course, when we tried to move Jason from the car to the house, he woke up (that never happens).  He was confused as to why we weren’t somewhere with games!  Tried to get him back to sleep, but we gave up when he kept asking to go play games.  Loaded back up and headed to Incredible Pizza.  We had a great time playing all the games with Jason, and he had a blast!

Waiting for Daddy to pay to start his first (of many) train ride.

And he’s off.  Choo-choo!

Next we went over to the giant roller skate slide.

And then back to the train

Then we got ripped off by this crane machine.  Jason grabbed something, but the claw wouldn’t go over the hole when it dumped what he picked up.

Next we headed over to the skee ball – which was the whole reason we even took Jason to Incredible Pizza to begin with.  Mimi had taken him and the girls somewhere to play, and he wanted tickets!

We went back to the train again (and again a few more times), but I quit taking pictures.  We ate lunch, and Jason ended up with cherry icee all down the front of his white shirt.  We headed over to the mini bowling alley after we ate.

Jason fell asleep on the way home and took a much longer nap this time.  I did a little shopping while he napped and picked up Chick-fil-a for dinner.  After we ate, Jason desperately needed a bath, but he also really wanted to play outside in the water hose again.  We decided we’d just kill two birds with one stone and bathe him outside.  I hope the neighbors didn’t see us!

Sunday we met some friends for lunch at Mama Ninfa’s.

Jason drove us to the restaurant.  He’s just growing up so fast!

After lunch, we all went to the baseball game.  It was a great time, and Jason enjoyed being the center of attention with our friends Chris and Mitzi.  He was just eating up all their attention and spoiling.  :)   He didn’t care too much about the game, but he did enjoy an ice cream and sprinkles with Mitzi.

After the baseball game, Jason got a nice afternoon nap in.  We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, and then we chilled the rest of the night.  It was a fantastic weekend!

Weekend 27 2010

Friday afternoon, Mimi and Pops took Jason to the lake, and Jonathan and I had a night to ourselves.  Unfortunately, the weather was awful, so our hot date night consisted of dinner at Fuddrucker’s, a rental on tv and doing laundry.  We’re such party animals!

Saturday morning we woke and headed to the lake.  When we got there, Mimi and I went grocery shopping while Daddy tried to put Jason down for what we thought would be an easy nap.  We weren’t gone five minutes and Jason was up and rearing to go.  Once we got home from the store, we played and rode the golf cart, and then we took Jasonfor a car ride to Lowe’s to get something for Pop’s and sneak a nap in.  We all ate a delicious dinner after his nap and took it easy the rest of the night.  We watched a few fireworks, but Jason wasn’t too interested in them.

Sunday morning, Jason and Maddie helped me make pancakes for breakfast.  After we ate, Jason and I went to Walmart with Mimi.  When we got home, Jonathan and I took the jet skis out for a spin.  We hung out for a while longer, and then we headed home.  After Jason took a nap, we tried to go to Los Tios for dinner, but they were closed so we ended up at Pappasito’s instead.

Monday morning, Daddy and Jason let me sleep in, and it was wonderful.  We bummed around most of the day and went to Sam’s for a few things and lunch.  Jason fell asleep on the way home, and we all took it easy for the rest of the afternoon.  When he woke up, we watched a little tv, and then we played outside with the water.  Daddy grilled us some yummy burgers for dinner.  We just chilled the rest of the evening.  It was a nice and relaxing three day weekend.

Southern Drawl

Here lately, Jason has really been speaking some of his words with a southern drawl.  We have no idea where he got it from because nobody we know speaks quite like this.  It’s pretty funny to hear him say, “I wanna go down-stay-ers.”  The only thing I can figure is maybe somebody really emphasized the pronunciation of the word to him, and he took it quite literally.  He’ll also say “up-stay-ers” when he wants to go upstairs.  It cracks me up the way he says those words.
