Weekend 6 2010

Friday night after picking up Jason, we all went to dinner at Cracker Barrel.  After we ate, we ran a quick errand at Target, and then we headed home to take it easy for the evening.

Saturday morning Jason and I got up and played and watched cartoons.  He had his favorite breakfast (honey toast).  Once Daddy was up we played some more, and then we tried to get Jason to take a nap.  Of course, since we were having family photos taken that afternoon, Jason decided this would be the first time in his life that he’d just altogether skip a nap.  We headed to the park to meet the photographer, and Jason was less than thrilled to be posing for pictures.  I’ll be shocked if she managed to get any good ones of us.  Jason was far more interested in running around and playing.  It was much easier to take family photos a year ago!  After the pictures, Jason fell asleep (of course), so we went home and Jonathan ran out to get us steaks for dinner.  Once Jason woke up we enjoyed a delicious dinner.

Sunday morning I got to sleep in, and Jonathan and Jason did the morning routine together.  We had a pretty lazy day at home for the most part.  Jason napped off and on for the majority of the afternoon.  It’s been a long time since he’s woken up and fallen back to sleep.  He slept for at least an hour while I held him downstairs after I thought he was up from his nap.  I found a new recipe for a chicken taco soup that we tried out for dinner, and then it was time to play in the tub for Jason.

I can’t believe it’s Monday again already.  The weekends go way too quickly.

First day of school! First day of school!

Get the ‘Finding Nemo’ reference?

Today is Jason’s first day of MDO at Mimi and Pops’ church.  We’ve been calling it his school, so for Jason, it’s his first day of school.  He’s very excited and eager to go make new friends.  I hope his enthusiasm lasts when Mimi drops him off.  We decided to let Mimi do the initial drop offs because Jason is very familiar with her church and going there with her.  We were afraid that if Mommy and/or Daddy went along it might just upset him.  Mimi has taken him there a few times, and they’ve played on the playground together.  She’s done a lot of talking to him about how she’ll drop him off, but she’ll come back to pick him up.  I’m so excited for Jason, and I hope he has a ton of fun today!

ETA:  Mimi called me after dropping Jason off.  He had second thoughts when they first arrived, but as soon as Miss Shawna (his teacher) came and asked him to give her five, he was excited again!  She asked him if he wanted to see the new toys they had to play with and he took off.  Here are some of the photos Mimi took.

So excited to go!

Jason got a little upset during chapel, but as soon as his teacher held him he was okay.  They told Mimi that he was adjusting very well.  They’d like him to stay for lunch, and they’ll play it by ear on whether or not he’ll stay for nap.

ETA:  Jason made it through the entire school day (9:00 – 2:00).  Mimi had him call us when she picked him up, and he told us about his day.  He told Daddy, “I like school!”  He ate lunch and took a nap without a problem.  He even said he wants to go back!

Jason, we are so proud of you!

Weekend 5 2010

Friday night I picked Jason up at Mimi’s house, and then we went home to get Daddy for dinner.  We went to Los Cucos to eat, and then we went to rent some movies.

Saturday morning, Jason and I went to do some shopping after breakfast.  We had to get him a lunch box and backpack for school.  Jason is going to be starting a MDO program at Mimi and Pops’ church tomorrow.  We’re all very excited for him, and we’re anxious to see how he does.  After shopping, we spent the day at home with Daddy.  Jason took a nap on his new nap mat.  He wasn’t too thrilled about the idea at first, but he did eventually fall asleep.  While he napped, I ran a couple more errands.  We went to dinner at Barry’s Pizza and had a chill evening.

Sunday morning Jason woke up bright and early and on a tear!  He was full speed all. day. long.  He was like a bouncy ball going from one wall to another, on furniture, on tables, on chairs, on toys, etc.  Poor Avery was played with and hugged and patted very roughly.  She had her tail pulled (a couple of times), her leg pulled and told to move more times than I can count.  She was a very sweet and patient dog, and not once did she snap at Jason.  We tried to catch Jason before he got to her, but that bouncy ball act he was on was quicker than us at times.  He was such a rambunctious little guy yesterday.  Jason’s new favorite thing to do now is take a bath.  He will ask for one all day long.  He will look up at you with some sad puppy dog eyes and say, “I want take a bath.”  Jonathan gave him his bath last night, and he wasn’t out two minutes when he was already asking to take another one.  Last night in his sleep, he said, “I want take a bath.”  The boy just can’t get enough play time in the water!  After his bath last night, Jonathan put him to bed, and he went down a little earlier and quicker than usual.  I guess he wore himself out running wild all day!  He sure wore us out, that’s for sure!

Dear Jesus

We have been saying nightly prayers with Jason since he was pretty young.  In the beginning, most nights the prayer was always the same.  As Jason got older and more vocal, he started listing the people we were asking God to bless.  More often than not, his list would include his animated friends too (Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Moose, Olivia, Cailou, etc.).

Tonight as I was putting Jason to bed, I forgot about our prayers.  I thought he was asleep, and then all of a sudden I see him fold his hands and hear him saying, “Dear Jesus, Mommy, Daddy.”  I said, “Oh!  We forgot your prayers.  Let’s say them now.”  We folded our hands and said our prayers.  A few more minutes go by, and I see him fold his hands again.

“Dear Jesus…Mommy, do it.”  (I fold my hands too, and we repeat, “Dear Jesus,”).

Jason continues his prayer with, “Avery need food.  Amen.”

It took all I had not to bust out laughing!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!
