Friday afternoon, it took me twice as long to get to Jason thanks to some lovely traffic. I finally picked him up and we headed home. On our way home, I asked him, “Jason, did you take a nap today?” He replied, “No.” I asked him why he didn’t take one and he said, “Um…maybe because I didn’t want to.” Not more than five minutes later, this was him when we stopped at a stop light.

He has been fighting his naps like crazy lately, and it seems he crashes out on our way home a lot more often. It’s a real bummer for us because 1. we don’t get to hang out or play with him much and 2. he doesn’t eat dinner. Obviously he still needs naps, but he thinks he’s getting too big. Jonathan put him to bed, and we fixed dinner and chilled at home the rest of the evening.
Saturday morning, Jason and I woke early (major downside to him going to bed so early) and watched cartoons. We picked up around the house a bit, and colored and just hung out till I let him wake up Jonathan. We dropped the truck off for inspection, and we went to Sam’s. Jason got a pretzel on our way out of Sam’s, and he was really acting goofy and enjoying it on our drive home.

I hit the grocery store on the way home, and then we ate lunch and we got ready and headed up to the water park. Aunt Leah, Arlis and Maddie were going to join us, but they got held up for a while. They ended up just meeting us at our house for pool and play in the backyard and grilled burgers. Yum! We all had a great time, and the kids got along very well. I think Jason really enjoys having people on his turf. It didn’t take Jason more than five minutes to fall asleep after they left. He went all day (again) without a nap, and then add to that lots of play time at the pool and in the backyard, and he was completely wiped out.
Sunday morning I got to sleep in, and then Jason and I headed out to do a little shopping. We went to BB&B, and we found a new quilt for Jason’s big boy bed. We wandered around and found a few other things, and then we headed over to Gymboree, so I could pick up an item on hold for a friend. When we pulled up, Jason saw a monster shirt in the window, and he asked, “Mommy, can we get that shirt for my baby brother?” Of course, I thought it was so sweet of him to shop for his brother, so I had to get them matching shirts of the shirt he liked. I can’t wait to put them in them. We headed home for lunch, and then we resorted to the mostly never fail way to get Jason to nap – a drive around. It didn’t take long at all, and he took a nice long nap. When he woke up, we went to eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and then he threw some money in the fountain after we ate.

When we got home it was time for baths and bed, so we called it a night. It was a nice weekend, and I’m hoping this week goes by quickly! We have an ultrasound scheduled on Friday to check the baby’s growth, and we’re going to take Jason with us for the first time. Hopefully he won’t be freaked out by it.
